Leadership Development Program


A Leadership Development Program or “LDP” for short is an in-depth training program for high-potential staff, supervisors, and managers responsible for leading others at the workplace and wishing to grow their knowledge and skills.

Typically taking 6 – 18 months to complete, LDP programs are custom designed to fit the needs of an organization and to drastically enhance the performance of its managers.

Companies or organizations that implement an LDP for their emerging leaders benefit from the following:

LDP programs are tailor-made and designed to meet the needs of the organization’s specific strategic objectives and develop the areas of development of participants. Program modules will be selected in collaboration with the Client’s administrative team after thorough research and analysis into the specific development needs of the organization. LDPs are designed by the CLPD administration team, an assigned Project Director, and CLPD’s team of expert instructors to fit the organization’s needs. Below is the CLPD 5-step approach to develop customized training systems and programs.

During the program Design stage, and after the Client Needs Assessment is completed, many elements will be chosen to create a high-impact and dynamic program. Here are some types of learning methods that may be included when designing an LDP.

  • Marketing Immersion:immersing participants in the industry and challenging them to apply the practices they learn.

  • Inside Out Learning: learning by sending participants out to other companies and industries to learn from others and then come back to share and apply the learning with the other participants.

  • Socratic Learning: a form of cooperative argumentative dialogue between individuals, based on asking and answering questions to stimulate critical thinking and to draw out ideas and underlying presumptions.

  • Case Studies: method of learning where participants study a “case,” usually another company’s dilemma and solution in order to learn.

  • Leaders as Teachers: using current company executives as instructors in order to embed them in the program and learn from their experience in the organization.

  • And many others!


LDPs are recommended to span 6 – 18 months of time from start to finish, and can be used as a yearly management training track for up-and-coming leaders. This allows time for participants to: 1) Internalize and “digest” new concepts 2) Start practicing new skills at the workplace 3) Receive feedback from a coach / mentor and measure their improvement. The total number of selected participants for an LDP can range from 10 to 30 in total. When there are days of classroom instruction, a typical full day of training includes 8 hours of instruction. However, CLPD offers schedule flexibility and will adjust the training times to fit an organization’s needs.
